Antecedentes científicos
María se graduó en Genética en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona en 2019 y se trasladó a Suecia para estudiar el programa de máster conjunto del Karolinska Institute, KTH Royal Institute of Technology y Stockholm University. Se unió al Human Protein Atlas en el Science for Life Laboratory en 2020 como bioinformática, centrando su trabajo en el desarrollo de un pipeline para la agrupación de genes por coexpresión. María comenzó su doctorado bajo la supervisión de Mathias Uhlén en 2022, con el objetivo de investigar firmas de enfermedades en datos de proteómica plasmática de pacientes que padecen cáncer, enfermedades cardiovasculares y otras patologías.
Objetivos dentro de ACES
Los jóvenes científicos impulsan el progreso científico, y mi objetivo es desarrollar iniciativas estratégicas que específicamente apunten y atraigan a las mentes más jóvenes que comienzan sus trayectorias académicas como estudiantes de máster y doctorado en Suecia. A través de acciones de divulgación adaptadas y esfuerzos colaborativos, mi meta es no solo identificar y comprometer a estos individuos prometedores de diversas universidades, sino también fomentar su potencial.
Scientific Background
María graduated with a bachelor’s in Genetics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2019, and moved to Sweden to study the joint master’s program by Karolinska Institute, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Stockholm University. She joined the Human Protein Atlas at Science for Life Laboratory in 2020 as a bioinformatician, focusing on the development of a pipeline for co-expression gene clustering. María started her PhD under the supervision of Mathias Uhlén in 2022, with the aim to investigate disease signatures in plasma proteomics data from patients suffering from cancer, cardiovascular conditions, and other diseases.
Objectives within ACES
Young scientists drive scientific progress, and my aim is to develop strategic initiatives that specifically target and attract the youngest minds embarking on their academic journeys as master’s and PhD students in Sweden. Through tailored outreach and collaborative efforts, my goal is to not only identify and engage these promising individuals from diverse universities but also to nurture their potential.
