Dr. Ricardo Vinuesa is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering Mechanics, at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He is also a Researcher at the AI Sustainability Center in Stockholm and Vice Director of the KTH Digitalization Platform. He received his PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. He also received his MS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from IIT, and his Mechanical-Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. His research combines numerical simulations and data-driven methods to understand and model complex wall-bounded turbulent flows, such as the boundary layers developing around wings, obstacles, or the flow through ducted geometries. He has also led a number of initiatives within artificial intelligence and its impact on sustainability. Dr. Vinuesa’s research is funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR) and the Swedish e-Science Research Centre (SeRC). He has also received the Göran Gustafsson Award for Young Researchers. Ricardo has published over 85 articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
Objectives within ACES:
Ricardo is interested in organizing dissemination events, seminars and other activities aimed at increasing the visibility of ACES. He wants to develop mentorship programs to harness the experience of the more senior researchers and contribute towards the development of younger ones. He also wants to establish networking activities in order to strengthen the links between the Spanish and Swedish research communities, and to establish ACES as the reference organization for Spanish researchers in Sweden.
