Scientific Background: Ph.D. in Health and Life Sciences (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2004). Postdoctoral period at Uppsala University (2004-2006), after which he became Parga Pondal Research Fellow (non-tenured) at the Public Galician Foundation of Genomic Medicine, Santiago University Hospital (Santiago de Compostela), where created and run the structural bioinformatics unit (2008-2012). He was also visiting researcher at the Scripps Research Institute (California, 2012) and in 2012 he joined the Computational and systems Biology program at the University of Uppsala as a senior researcher. He has co-authored more than 40 articles indexed in ISI WoK and coordinated regional and national research projects, where he has focused on the application of molecular modeling and molecular simulation techniques in drug design projects. Currently he is He has also organized and participated in several scientific training activities on this subject.
Objectives within ACES: Hugo has been member of different scientific organizations and recognises the important role that this play in the life and work of the scientists. In particular he expects that ACES will be a catalyser to strength the scientific relationships between Spain and Sweden, and to become the reference place for the Spanish scientists in Sweden.
