El Profesor Barker es una autoridad mundial en el estudio de las enfermedades de Parkinson y Huntington. Su trabajo pionero aborda la heterogeneidad de estos trastornos y promueve el desarrollo de nuevos tratamientos experimentales, incluyendo terapias celulares y génicas. Ha publicado más de 600 artículos científicos, dirige el Drug Discovery Institute en Cambridge y el John Van Geest Centre for Brain Repair, y es coeditor jefe del Journal of Neurology.
El Profesor Barker mantuvo una estrecha colaboración durante muchos años con el Profesor Ernest Arenas en el Karolinska Institutet.
Este evento tiene como objetivo celebrar el legado de Ernest Arenas mediante una serie anual de conferencias organizadas por el Karolinska Institutet, en colaboración con ACES.

Lecture title:
“Repairing the Human Brain Through Transplants: Is It Possible? The History of Parkinson’s Disease”
Professor Barker is a world authority on Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases. His pioneering work addresses the heterogeneity of these disorders and promotes the development of new experimental treatments, including cell and gene therapies. He has published over 600 scientific articles, directs the Drug Discovery Institute in Cambridge and the John Van Geest Centre for Brain Repair, and serves as co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Neurology.
Professor Barker maintained a close collaboration for many years with Professor Ernest Arenas at the Karolinska Institutet.
This event aims to celebrate the legacy of Ernest Arenas through an annual lecture series organized by the Karolinska Institutet, in collaboration with ACES.
