El pasado 16 de abril de 2026, ACES celebró una nueva sesión de la serie “Jóvenes talentos, futuras estrellas de la ciencia” en SciLifeLab, Solna, con la conferencia del investigador Roberto de la Torre Martínez titulada “A Journey from Ion Channels to Brain Circuits”.
Durante el encuentro, Roberto compartió con los asistentes su trayectoria científica y profesional, repasando el camino que lo llevó hasta Suecia y su experiencia de ocho años en el Instituto Karolinska. A lo largo de la charla, explicó algunas de las principales líneas de investigación que ha desarrollado en el ámbito de la neurociencia, conectando el estudio de los canales iónicos con el funcionamiento de los circuitos cerebrales desde una perspectiva integradora y multidisciplinar.
La conferencia también permitió conocer de cerca algunos de los hitos más relevantes de su carrera investigadora, entre ellos la obtención de una prestigiosa financiación de Vetenskapsrådet (VR grant). Asimismo, Roberto anunció el inicio de una nueva etapa profesional como investigador Ramón y Cajal en la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Alicante, donde continuará desarrollando su labor científica.
Además, aprovechó la ocasión para presentar la recién creada página web de su nuevo grupo de investigación, un proyecto que marca el comienzo de esta nueva fase académica y científica.
El evento reunió a miembros de la comunidad investigadora española en Suecia y generó un espacio de intercambio científico y diálogo cercano entre asistentes de distintas disciplinas. Talk by Roberto de la Torre Martínez: “A Journey from Ion Channels to Brain Circuits”
On April 16th, 2026, ACES held a new session of the “Young Talents, Future Stars of Science” series at SciLifeLab, Solna, featuring a talk by researcher Roberto de la Torre Martínez entitled “A Journey from Ion Channels to Brain Circuits”.
During the event, Roberto shared with the audience his scientific and professional journey, reflecting on the path that brought him to Sweden and his eight years of research experience at the Karolinska Institute. Throughout the lecture, he presented some of the main research lines he has developed in the field of neuroscience, connecting the study of ion channels with the functioning of brain circuits from an integrative and multidisciplinary perspective.
The talk also offered attendees the opportunity to learn more about some of the most important milestones in his research career, including the award of a prestigious Vetenskapsrådet (VR) grant. In addition, Roberto announced the beginning of a new professional stage as a Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Miguel Hernández University of Alicante, where he will continue developing his scientific work.
He also took the opportunity to present the newly launched website of his research group, a project that marks the beginning of this new academic and scientific phase.
The event brought together members of the Spanish research community in Sweden and created a space for scientific exchange and close dialogue among attendees from different disciplines.
