El pasado 14 de diciembre tuvo lugar el evento inaugural de la Asociación de Investigadores Españoles en los Países Bálticos (ACEBaltic), celebrado en la prestigiosa Academia de Ciencias de Estonia, en Tallin. La jornada, organizada en colaboración con la Embajada de España en Estonia y con el apoyo de la Fundación Ramón Areces, reunió a investigadores, responsables políticos y figuras destacadas del ámbito científico, como Eva Ortega-Paíno, secretaria general del Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, e Izascun Lacunza, directora general de la Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT). Además, la Asociación de Científicos Españoles en Suecia (ACES) fue invitada al evento, siendo representada en este caso por su presidente, Xesús Abalo.
Durante el evento se presentaron los logros y actividades pasadas de la Asociación de Investigadores Españoles en Estonia (ACEE) y su evolución hacia ACEBaltic, así como los objetivos y proyectos previstos para 2025.
Uno de los momentos destacados fue el debate sobre los retos que enfrentan los jóvenes investigadores para consolidar sus carreras profesionales, con la participación de expertos de España y los países bálticos. Además, también se inauguró la exposición “AstrónomAs”, una muestra que rinde homenaje a las contribuciones de mujeres astrónomas, incorporando en esta edición a científicas estonias.
La participación de ACES en este evento refuerza su compromiso con la promoción de la ciencia y la colaboración internacional, facilitando la creación de vínculos entre las comunidades científicas españolas en el extranjero.
ACES participated in the inaugural event of ACEBaltic
On December 14th, the inaugural event of the Association of Spanish Researchers in the Baltic States (ACEBaltic) took place at the prestigious Estonian Academy of Sciences in Tallinn. The event, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in Estonia and supported by the Ramón Areces Foundation, brought together researchers, policymakers, and prominent figures from the scientific community, such as Eva Ortega-Paíno, Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and Izascun Lacunza, Director General of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). Additionally, the Association of Spanish Scientists in Sweden (ACES) was invited to the event, represented by its president, Xesús Abalo.
During the event, the achievements and past activities of the Association of Spanish Researchers in Estonia (ACEE) and its evolution into ACEBaltic were presented, as well as the new association’s goals and projects for 2025.
One of the day’s highlights was a debate addressing the challenges young researchers face in establishing their professional careers, with contributions from experts from Spain and the Baltic countries. The event also featured the opening of the “AstrónomAs” exhibition, a tribute to the contributions of women astronomers, which, in this edition, also included Estonian scientists.
ACES’s participation in this event reinforces its commitment to promoting science and fostering international collaboration, facilitating the creation of strong connections among Spanish scientific communities abroad.
